Due to the variety of patient sizes, needs, and personal preference, we do not keep stock of diabetic shoes in our clinic. We have several catalogs on hand with a variety of options to choose from. Your shoes will be ordered after the evaluation.
Our Fremont location is by appointment only. In Omaha, we do accept walk-ins, but we recommend calling first to ensure we can get you seen in a timely manner. You can schedule an appointment by contacting us through our website or calling our office directly.
The process involves an initial consultation which includes gathering medical history and taking measurements. A week or two later a diagnostic socket will be fit to ensure a satisfactory fit. After successful fitting of the diagnostic socket and obtaining approval from insurance, it will be duplicated and made out of more durable materials, typically carbon fiber. Regular follow-ups will be scheduled to ensure the prosthesis is fitting and functioning properly. Overtime, your residual limb will change shape and volume for a variety of reasons, and adjustments may need to be made to maintain a comfortable fit.
Proper care involves regular cleaning and maintenance. Generally, most orthotic/prosthetic devices can be cleaned with mild soapy water and then air dried. We also provide follow-up care for your device and will perform adjustments or repairs as needed.
